Apparently theres a common fault with the Renault fobs where a soldered joint breaks that causes a lot of trouble, worth having a peek inside and see if you can see anything.
Was working before the battery change so it looks like it lost sync when the battery was removed, I did this once with my Volvo, lesson learnt, I always do it quick now

I have repaired fobs in the past with bad joints. Usually on the buttons or battery terminations. I can have a look at it if you like. Does it have a light on when you press the button? Most don't now, they are a good way of seeing if it is working.

The key fob has always been dodgy. I wouldnt have a clue what to look for. My mums taking it to West End today, so will see what they say.
