Re: Car insurance...

Not sure what you mean by the same company insures everything but that is one heck of a difference there!

There are many different Insurance companies.

It does not all go into one pot, a lot are part of a group though.

Ie The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Have the likes of NIG, Direct Line, Churchill, Devitt. as a quick example.

Was it Norwich Union who quoted you. they are renown for it.

its a way of politely tell you to go forth!

Quite simply, you don't fit the demograph that they want as customers.

Re: Car insurance...

Have you tried www.confused.com ?

You'll find most insurance brokers use the same insurance company, MMA seems to be the most popular, they must get it cheaper the more policy's they buy, hence difference in quotes from company's - PS, dont try going direct, you cant, I already tried that one

You're right there K.S.H. I went on the confused .com site, got a quote and thought, 'I'll be clever here and go direct, cut out the middle man.' No chance, going direct was 300 quid more expensive.

Re: Car insurance...

I am 60, I have never had an accident that I caused (run into the back of once), and have a totally clean licence. Bought an old car for £450 - best quote I could get for insurance was over £500!!! - how can they justify a premium more than the value of the car, for goodness sake? Whatever happened, I'd never get my money back on that basis.

I was with "Churchill" once. They are really bad when they have to pay out.

It took nearly 3 months for me to have my claim sorted. What a joy, three months without a car.
