want to change tys surname to mine officially, thats the one he uses anyway.. just thinking that me and baby will have the same surname and i want ty to as well......
his dad has no parental rights at all so i dont need to ask his permission.

I did it about 25 years ago.
I went to a solicitor and he drew up the deed poll document - cost £25 then maybe more now.
I decided that as well as reverting back to my maiden name, I also wanted the title 'Miss', so that went on the deed poll too - I have used that name and title ever since.
The time consuming bit is getting photocopies of the document and sending a copy to all the people who need to know - making a (very long) list helps

Re: changing surname by deed poll?
My son by my first marriage has his father's name.
I never saw this as a problem, maybe because the divorce was amicable and he had frequent access.
The only time I notice it did make a difference was when we went on holiday together when he was in his early teens. He was 6ft tall and I learned late in the holiday that other hotel guests presumed he was my toyboy
No wonder I never got chatted up

awwww
tys dad left when he was 6 weeks old and he hasnt seen him or heard from him since, his passport has his birth name on it and he asked why it isnt the same as mine, the passport and official things are they only time he uses it, hes used my surname for as long as he can remember so its not a big change for him, its just making it official..... also i dont want him to feel the 'odd one out' because me and the baby will have the same surname.
