What Chingle Hall? I didn't think it was that bad. I don't think I involve alcohol if I go again it only serves to wind up the imagination.

My dearest Slinky, I will give serious consideration to your proposal, however I must point out having heard recent tales told of the exploits of yourself, your kin and friends I would have thought a night at the pub with you would have been sufficient to scare me s***less… ….No Names…… ……Mac, Tinks to name but two and not to mention? Well best not.

Does Chingle Hall still do overnight stays? I had heard that they had stopped them. I might be wrong though, but I know they were definitely considering doing so.

Re: Close Encounters of the ghostly kind?

The owners of the day when I was last there where actively considering closing the doors to night sitters……and I have to say it wasn’t cheap and that was 20 years ago. But I recall that the Hall went up for sale in the late 80s or early 90s I don’t know the outcome of that. What people have to consider with a place like this is that there extremely expensive to run and an income targeted purely at upkeep of bricks and mortar is crucial unless your loaded and have a tremendous disposable income.

Re: Close Encounters of the ghostly kind?

Chingle Hall at Goosnargh is believed to be the most haunted house in Lancashire. The hall, originally surrounded by a defensive mote was built by Adam de Singleton in 1260; it has passed through various families including the Singletons and Walls. It is one of the oldest brick built buildings in the country. As was the style of the day the hall was built as a cruciform structure to represent the cross.

Re: Close Encounters of the ghostly kind?

I don't know if this counts or not but when my daughter was just able to talk coherently she said 'when I lived here before, I used to live with Great Grandma'. Her Great Grandad died whilst I was pregnant so she never got to meet him. She still occassionally says things like, 'I don't belong here, I shouldn't have come here', but it's getting less and less frequent that she talks about her former life.

Another slightly spooky thing that happened isn't about ghosts at all. There is a theory that ghosts are echoes of people rather than actually being spirits. Apparently we all make echoes all the time. A few years ago, we went on holiday with a large group of people. The following year we decided not to book to go again even though they were going to the same place. Then at the last minute we booked to go without telling the others about it but our plan was that we would just turn up for the second week of their holiday and it would be a big surprise for them. On the morning we set off the plane was delayed by about two hours - no big deal. When we arrived one of the guys in the groups said, 'I knew you were coming', this was impossible as we had not told them. He knew we were coming because he'd seen us 'arriving' two hours earlier and walking down the road to the beach bar. We had only just arrived and at the time he saw us we were on a plane. It's one of those things that people would have laughed at except that at the time he thought he'd seen us he told everyone else in the group about it and described what we were wearing. Sure enough when we did arrive we matched exactly what he'd seen. He thought we were taking the mickey but we weren't.

Re: Close Encounters of the ghostly kind?

I think Chingle Hall would get a lot more scary with a bunch of AccyWebbers there.

Re: Close Encounters of the ghostly kind?

I’m sure your happy to know that your daughter has something weird going on Purplelass lol……

I am sure that this can be a little disconcerting at times, quite often parents discourage their offspring from talking rubbish about being here before and of having invisible friends. This in my opinion is the last thing they should do. If you find that it happens with the next generation encourage them to talk about their experiences without showing them fear, distress or shock. Write down what they say and keep a log of events along with references of names or places mentioned.

Why do this, because they aren’t imagining anything, these can be references to a number of things and its not uncommon, they could be recollections of pre birth visits (some believe that the spirit can opt out of a rebirth based on previous family connections and or, predestined events), splinters of memories from previous lives are not uncommon or they maybe communications with those already past over.

Whatever your beliefs or practices what is actually happening that allows these events to occur in the first place is that the protective Vail between your daughters current life and her sprit is thinned, this allows memories to slip thought or give the ability to communicate with her own spirit or those with her. There is nothing to fear in this, it is natural and the Vail will thicken up without harm if left alone.
