Do you have some "ME" after work
The French are said to have some "ME" after they finish their daily grind, like say call for a drink or go to the gym. Do you do anything to wind down or did you when you were working. Well as for myself, I never had a 9 to 5 job, more like 8am to 10pm (like my signature says) but I always call for a drink on the way home, especially when working away from home, home being the digs. Just to flop down in a chair with a pint and chat about anything but work was relaxing. Mind you in those days the pubs closed at 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday, 11pm Friday Saturday, so if you finished late you hadn't time to go home and get washed and changed, but we always got change before going out for a meal, usually at a night club that was open late.

Re: Do you have some "ME" after work
To some degree I like the hour in the car driving home for this. I can put on some music or just chill for that hour. It sort of allows me time to 'file away' all the days work stuff. Likewise the hour drive in allows me to sort of load up where I left off the previous day. That way I don't find I need to rabbit on about my day when I get home.

Re: Do you have some "ME" after work
I think my walk to and from work was my ME unless you count the three times a week I went to the gym. That was good, just an opt out from everything else, especially when they had good music playing.

Re: Do you have some "ME" after work
I increasingly reach for a cold beer or a glass of wine ! It takes me a good hour to stop thinking about work, I take a while to wind down. I don't usually eat till I feel more relaxed. On the plus side now I have my bloke back I can bend his ear instead of driving the child mad with my tales of retail hell !

Re: Do you have some "ME" after work
As someone who is self employed and works from home I never stop thijnking about work. I regularly wake up in the middle of the night and start working for an hour of so till I feel sleepy again.
It is now 8pm and I am on here waiting for my photocopier to finish, but I have had half an hour off to eat and had a bottle of beer.
I hate doing this but I agree with Cashman, when the children were younger there never was any ME time

Agree 100%, that could be my problem maybe I need a job that involves some travelling I could try walking to and from work should be good for 30-45 mins of ME.

Well I can agre with both cashy and yourself polly, but unfortunately me and my first wife split when my kids were small they were about 4 and 5 at the time. It was then that I started working away from home and indeed long hours. So this is when the visit for a drink after work started for me.
