I am not in favour of banning any type of food. I believe that the majority of us can make our own decisions on what is, and is not good for us.
The presenters asked him that Margaret, and he said no

My guess (and it may be wrong, but I am sure you will tell me if I am) is that you opt for these cheap sausages, mince, and microwave meals because you do not like to spend time in the preparation of meals(or perhaps you are lacking in cooking skills)....so you go for the quick option.

It is possible to cook nutritious and healthier food by planning, shopping wisely, and of course, spending a bit of time in the kitchen.
Oh come on Margret spending time in the kitchen would interfere with the research program in the Railway

Re: Do you use Butter

My granny told me that if food doesn't come from an animal or a field it's "not good for you". She may be right, she may be wrong but she didn't pop her clogs till she was 95 and she was a farmers daughter.
I love butter (not its price) and the good news is that you can spread it really thinly and still get a mouthful of flavour.
It's what crumpets were made for and a little of what you fancy does you good.

Yes Mick you're absolutely right, but I do my shopping after and not before because if I did it before the research all my frozen micro-wave meals would have thawed out.

Re-freezing is a no, no, because food poisoning really can interrupt the delicate balance of a well constructed experiment based on the delights of alcohol.

I was always under the impression that saturated fats were absolutely fine, as they were natural ones. They just have to be combined with a healthy routine. Shame I can't manage to do the latter. Taggy how do you get the motivation to go to the gym? Ughh..

I eat Lurpack by the way. I love a bit of salt!

I can understand the reasoning behind the shopping after a trip to the Railway.......after all, you need to know how much money is left after the research.......makes sense to budget appropriately.

Hmmm, I'm not sure that I believe him.
Indian cooking is done with a lot of Ghee, which is of course, clarified butter.
The authorities in India tried to get people over there to accept what they considered to be a healthier option.......western type margarine.....levels of heart disease went up.

Also Clarissa Dixon Wright(she of Two fat Ladies fame) is related to someone who owned Van Deb Berghs(the makers of Stork Margarine....amongst others) he made her promise that she would never eat margarine....be cause he knew what went into it!!!

I think much of our food is chemicalised, and we do not know how these chemicals affect individuals.
Any number of things could be responsible for the increase in heart disease.
A sedentary life style has to be high on the risk list.

Having said that, it is up to the individual to assess their own risk......I do not believe that governments should be involved in determining what the population eats. That is fascism.

It can be a bit of a bind at times i'll admit Andrew, i usually go at 7.15 am to get it out of the way, but i like my food and am partial to a couple of bottles of Red Wine at weekend, so knowing i can enjoy these on a regular basis usually motivates me enough!

Didn't Clarissa undertake a £1,000,000 study into the effects of alcohol? Perhaps our dedicated team could save money and time and compare notes with her.

I am fairly sure the research team wouldn't drink to that!

I think they want to make sure that the findings of Clarissa can be replicated in the Northern male.
