Re: Does anything eat wasps?

I was parked at temporary lights on Dill Hall Lane during the nice weather last week and one of little swines decided it wanted a lift! FREAK OUT!!! I've never been so scared in my life! The lights changed to green with a line of traffic behind and I'm sat there with a wasp stareing me in the eyes! I was just about to jump out and leave the car exactly were it was when it must have realised it wasn't getting a lift anywere off me and went back out the window! I literally wanted to burst into tears with relief when it had gone!

An old car of our once sucked one in through the air vent! It was one miffed wasp and we were travelling at about 60mph at the time on the M65!

You can get wasp traps - try a garden centre. Fill them with sugared water, the wasps fly in and can't get out. Eventually they get exhausted and fall into the water and drown. Works even better with a spot of sugared wine or beer, and if you're a tender hearted soul, you can console yourself with the fact that they die p****d and happy!

my philosphy is willow- bees are ok they die if they sting you, so there unlikely to do so unless you scare em or summat,so bees don,t bother me either.

Re: Does anything eat wasps?

At this time of year wasps are unlikely to sting. It's in the Autumn when they get drunk on ripe fruit that they turn nasty.

I've had a lot of them coming into the house lately and I just open the window and let them out. They can be beneficial in the garden as they do a bit of pollinating like bees.

I always put a jam-jar in the garden from about August onwards. I put a bit of jam in the bottom and half fill it with water then put cling film over the top with 2 or 3 holes punched in it. The wasps go in through the holes, attracted by the jam, but can't get out again.
