I know exactly how you feel, Kathleen.
That's happened to me.

Re: Fireworks
Well I spoke to soon, one went of near my place last night, just one mind you, but its only 8 days to go to Bonfire Night so I don't think that's bad for change, its usually been every night for a month before in the past

The upside of this awful weather is that the chavs prefer to stay in for their amusement

Were none of your whingers kids? Did you not let off fireworks?
No, only ever saw 1/2 dozen fireworks, were'nt allowed bonfires either.
There were'nt any fireworks until around till 1946/47.
Consider yourself lucky, you were able to annoy peope.

Re: Fireworks
The more I read of the whining on here ,the more I am convinced that our great British sense of humour and our sense of fun took a hike a long while back .
I spent Sat Nov 1st at an organised bonfire and then had around 15 people, mainly adults of respectable professions back to my humble abode where we ate hotdogs and blackpeas, and set off many , many fireworks in my tiny backyard. Did anyone complain..... NO. We drank and laughed and even taped some rockets together, we had a riot, no one died , it was a great night. We have done the same for the last 8 or 9 years; it's called FUN.
Try it, you might enjoy it !

I have CFS - sleep is a medical need - if it was one of the rare days when I was capable of 'having fun' I would have done so

We set some fireworks off in the garden earlier on tonight for the kids. There were several families doing the same round here. They enjoyed it and fun was had.
I only complain when I hear fireworks being set off at 2am or too early, like in September.
Fireworks make some people, like Margaret, ill.
In which case, for those people, it is not fun.
Fun is only fun if you're finding it funny..........if you know what I mean.

Re: Fireworks
Why couldn't those Papist plotters have chosen another month?
It would be much more fun to celebrate the failed terrorist attack on Parliament in July.
Still, at least it wasn't pee'ing down this November the fifth.
