Forgotten Site

Im currently doing a piece of research on some of the forgotten sites or spaces around Accrington. I have located quite a number of these, and I am just wondering if anyone has any knowledge or photos of one these sites.
The site is on Edgar Street, just off Blackburn Road (See attached map). It is located next to the old site of the Accrington Observer works, which has been talked about on previous threads, and is now a car park.
However the site im interested in, is adjacent, and is currently in a state of dereliction, with only the ground floor section of the facade of the building still existing. (See attached photo).
If any one has any knowledge or photos of the sites previous uses, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Forgotten Site

If I am thinking right the Observer used to have its main offices there across from the New Princess Pictures

Yes agree Bert, but was originally built as a theatre was it not, later, like most theatres, to become a picture house.

Re: Forgotten Site

There were two theatres/cinemas across the road - The Princes and The Empire but I don't know of one on that side.

It looks like it's on a corner or a bend in the photo, is that just a fluke induced by stitching together a panorama? The area marked on the map, and indeed Edgar Street itself has no bend in it.

Re: Forgotten Site

It's a corner site it looks like the corner is on two 45degrees but i think it's 90 degree, the white slabs should all be in a straight line , the kerbs should go rould a sharp 90, the windows and doors on the front the gate on the side

Re: Forgotten Site

no your right the kerb that makes it look like it going round a corner is for the gate thats nearly in the middle of the plot on the plan. Id assumed it was on a corner before you said.
