Getting an Allotment?

Hi all!

Me and my dad were talking and thinking about getting an allotment for gardening (veggies and maybe chickens) and was wondering how we go by this?

I have looking around and it seems its todo with the council? Can you buy a plot or is it all rented? is there any sites where there are prices to get these?

thanks all!

Re: Getting an Allotment?

You contact the council at Scaitcliffe House to go on the waiting list but you will need to be patient ,some people wait for more than a year.

I waited 5 years for mine

to say they were managed in a diabolic manner is huge understatement

Re: Getting an Allotment?

In 2012 they did a lot of improvement work to the Heys allotment site - subdivided large ones and created a new parking area - so that should have shortened the queue somewhat.

Well most of the allotment sites belong to the Council but you could look for a private one, there are some. Or just buy your own land.
