Re: Have you been up the Twin Towers?

Went up the Twin Towers, in 1981 dd liberty and the Empire State as well.
For information in Feb this year, had no problems going to Liberty Island and going up the lady same thing for Empire State.
Also the Uss Intrepid is worth a look.

On a side note, the US have a nice system, if you are in the armed services, from any nation and you go in uniform, you get free entry, preferential queuing.
Why we in England cannot honour our lads and girls that way. Unfortunately I realised I was getting old, when I saw the sailors from HMS Gloucester.

We didn't go.
It was always one of the places I wanted to visit.......sadly, it won't happen now.
I would not go to a country that treats all its tourists as terrorists.

In my local park they placed a piece of debris from the World Trade Centre as some kind of display - art or for some other reason! It's basically some metal girders with some steel stuck to it!

If I thought that would get me in without having my fingerprints taken, iris scanned and whatever else they do.....believe me I would.

Why anyone would visit the US, when the most beauriful country on earth (in the large size category) is right next door is beyond me Screw the paranoid yanks and their Homeland Security And if you like heights, try something like this:

EdgeWalk - CN Tower | La Tour CN

I might just give it a shot. And if I should fall, think only this of me, that there's a big hole in some corner of a foreign field which is for ever the bottom end of Clayton

I sense from your post that you don't want to try it

That is fine if you don't actually want to visit New York. My ambition was.....to visit New York and do the touristy things. So when New York moves to Canada.......I will be there like a shot. Somehow I don't see it happening.

I really do think that my days of long haul travel....travel by plane, are over.
I no longer even have a passport.

Eric, you might not like the Big Apple.......but at least you have seen it.
I might not like it if I ever got to see it......but it was one of the places on my 'bucket' list.

Yes, I could use Google maps...but I would love to go and take my own pictures of places of interest.
I have learned as I have matured(got older), that you can't put a price on personal experiences.......and that memories cost money initially but you can reap the rewards when you look back at the times you had.

Anyway I can shut the door on that ambition now.......it would be easier to become a brain surgeon.

Re: Have you been up the Twin Towers?

Mancie posted something that has been removed about some twins! However it reminded me that I did actually go up the real Twin Towers - World Trade Centre with some girls that were twins! Thanks for reminding me.

Re: Have you been up the Twin Towers?

Went up in May 2000 and ate at "Windows on the World" - a superb restaurant and a memorable meal.
