Have you lost a parokeet?

Today I spotted a parokeet (I think) in a tree near where I live. After three hours managed to capture it so am hoping to find the owner. It is mainly yellow and red but will expect whoever claims it to be able to give me a full description. It is in safekeeping at the moment. The RSPCA have been informed. So if you know anyone who may have lost such a bird in the last few days you can contact the RSPCA at Altham who have my tel number or post on here

If no-one claims it do you think you will keep it?

Re: Have you lost a parokeet?

Thanks for the kind comments folks. To answer your questions.
Saw it up in a tree behind where I live being mobbed by magpies so knew I had to try something.. Tempted it down eventually with some bird seed in a dish. Was very tame though nervous, went up my arm, onto my shoulder than sat on my head when then inevitable happened, Ungrateful bird!! Couldn't actually get hold of it.
Then I remembered seeing a guy who lives nearby who had a parakeet. Went to see him. His flew away three weeks ago but this wasn't his. We both tried to get it with no luck. He told me that if it lands on your hand just close your fingers together and trap its feet to get it.
It stayed around and I tried again later and it came down again for food landed on my hand and the job was done. I've still got the bruises on my fingers to prove it!
Took it round to the other guy and he is looking after it until an owner is found, otherwise he is happy to keep it but would prefer to return to the owners for the birds sake.
