History

Can anybody tell me how i can find out any history about the local area? I'm mainly looking for information about Church St, Accrington (has Church St every been known by another name?), & the Hare & Hounds pub in Clayton. I've tried a few "google" searches, but to no avail.

Sorry, i've just realise that this in the wrong forum. Hopefully the powers that be can move it. I really am a muppet at times. lol

Re: History

Yes
Wa back in the past it was known as Mr Peels road, the road came from Accrington House down what is now Avenue Parade, across what is now Abbey St, down what is now Peel St to St James Church. Mr Peel used it every Sunday, his family were driven in horse and carriage to St James Church.
