Re: ignorant sales people!!!
Sam has mentioned in a previous post that he works in a cafe so don't think a Brewer's Fayre, however, enjoyed his post and sure he does a good job. Customers can be difficult at times, but I always took pleasure in calming a customer down in my many, many years in Sales/Customer Liaison, etc. Not the retail section so not very qualified to comment.
Best ones are on the 'phone Sam ... you can be pleasant vocally whilst sticking yer tongue out at the same time .. and yes LOL, putting them on mute whilst they are having a go and you can shout down the 'phone and call them the biggest w**ker ever (no apologies for asterisks) .. they do not hear you .. tee hee. Have to make sure the mute button is working though, otherwise, BIG TROUBLE ..

So, if customers are 'happy and smiley' they might be fortunate enough to get 'adequate service' from yourself. How do you serve the people who you think should be spending their money, which goes to pay your wages, on other things?
Your very wise not to name your employer, otherwise they might be alerted to the things you have decided to publicly say.
If you take the pay, you do as they say, and if that really doesn't suit you should have the balls to walk, away and go and work for someone who you think is better suited to your people 'skills'.

Oooh I wouldn't dare do that!
What if you thought the mute was working but it wasn't?
Or you hadn't pressed it properly?
Doesn't bear thinking about.
Myself and a colleague were once talking to each other on the phone about our supervisor's weekend shenanigans.....rumour had it she'd gone home with someone from work.
It turned out she was doing an accreditation on the call and was listening in!
Most embarrassing.

I agree, but you never let the customers see if they've made you angry by their actions, and I bet you never did in your work Kate.
The customer is always right, even when they aren't.
With the right attitude even the surliest of customer can be won over, as long as you remain focused and professional, even if you scream and kick the metaphoric cat as soon as you leave their presence.

Adequate is variable depends on ones standards, I have high standards and therefore adequate service from myself is superior to the best of many.

Politely and efficiently, thanks for asking.

You seem to think that my management have a problem with me and my behaviour... this is not true, as I said I am the only person in the place never to receive a complaint and my service to the majority of customers is perfect. It is simply that I refuse to be mistreated and I will act accordingly if done so.
And as for walking away I need the money for university, and this place lets me work the majority of my hours on a sunday meaning I can still go to watch the Stanley.

Used to test first Lilly .. ask if they could still hear me and if no response could go full blast.
Never been in a situation whereby could be 'accredited', however, she should know the saying about 'eavesdroping'.

Perhaps I over reacted to your inital statement in this thread.
I admire the fact that you are working.
So good luck, and happily you'll never get to serve me, as I'm neither a pensioner nor have a young family.

No, but I am a good actress .. and used this talent in sales ... comes in handy. I had the benefit of building up long term relationships with customers, and would tell them off if I thought they were being stupid. Short term/one hit relationships with customers are slightly different so not too sure how I would re-act.
Think a slight misinterpretation of Sam's posts here that's all.

True. I'm just seeing it from my own point of view.
You pay me, you get total loyalty, whatever the job.
Mind you, I'm worth every penny.

Re: ignorant sales people!!!
I usually give excellent customer service to every customer, however I make an exception for those rude and ignorant people who talk on their phones whilst being served... they get the silent transaction, or the ones eating in my store whilst I am serving them, especially those that put their half eaten lunch on the counter whilst paying, they get a scowl !

Re: ignorant sales people!!!
Thread interjection, irrelevant to thread topic!
Odd it is, seeing both sides of this topic and having been on both sides of the isle! Instead, all I wish to say is how I'd love to be in and around Accrington/Lancashire at this moment. As I read the above comments, I can smell and hear the splendid atmosphere of the Market places (minus the rif-raf). Absolutely glorious!
To stroll around with Rindy, Cashy, Neil, etc., bump into Kate and her mates, finally get to meet those Accywebbers I've yet to, have a natter with Bernie, the lovely Mez, Harwood Red, etc. . . . and then to finish it off with some Fish, Chips, mushy peas and a couple of pints.
Dag, made me all quite homesick. Especially on the=is rather cold, wet, accy day over this way!
Alrighty then, carry on and be happy mates!
Brian
