Being a person who doesn't think she's ever listened to the today program on radio 4 I think he must have done something on TV too because the name certainly sounds familiar but from the dim and distant past.

Maybe I should have a google too

I used to listen to Jack de Manio on the radio. He was a law unto himself, didn't much care if his opinion wasn't the "party line", and he was always giving the time wrong on the clock. I don't remember him ever being on TV but I may be wrong.

this is Jack De Manio with the first edition of Today.- thats all i can remember he used to introduce it with those words.
