Mick it's Blackburn with Darwen, not under LCC

Re: joining the library - whats needed?

Libraries are financed out of County Council 'rates', and people in Blackburn with Darwen don't pay anything to LCC

Council Tax
extract
The following are Unitary Councils in Lancashire, but not part of the Lancashire County Council administrative area

Blackpool Council

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council

Re: joining the library - whats needed?

No, it's not the children. Gone are the days when you could go to the library and quietly read a book. Not like on the TV where the slightest noise in a library is followed by a stern Shsss!! It's now a case of get it, choose book and get out quick as poss. Wilkinsons is more relaxing...haha!!

Re: joining the library - whats needed?

Libraries have changed since i .. and many of you were kids .. back then it was just books and the reference bit with maybe music ... cassettes and lp's .. now you get access to the internet, dvds, cd's, games for the xbox etc .. so libraries are not the quiet place that they used to be .. and i wouldnt expect them to be .. plus people our age can remember when they were quiet, the librarians especially the chief librarian was respected and scared the living daylights out of you with the look if you dropped a book ... Now most of them are more friendly places ..
