laser eye treatment

I think somewhere in the past this question has been asked or has come up in a thread but I wanted to know how many of you have had laser eye treatment for long or short sightedness??

I am seriously considering it as I am short sighted and it is definately getting worse.

If you have had it done

Do you recommend it??

When did you have it done and is the result still as good after time?

Where did you have it done?

How much did it cost?

ta

Though glasses do have some advantages over surgery.

Re: laser eye treatment

yep, had it done as has Julie, highly recommended on our cases

done by Optimax in Manchester, highly recommended.

My eyesights still top, I'm a very happy bunny with it, probably the best 750ish quid that I ever spent.

Do you think it should be available on the NHS?

To be honest no I don't, it's not essential to have it done... there's probably other things that shouldn't be on the NHS either

Re: laser eye treatment

But the NHS pays for some people to have sight tests and gives them free glasses. Would it not be cheaper to offer free laser eye treatment to them?

Re: laser eye treatment

I'd agree with Neil, if its going to cost 3K over teh next 20 years in eye tests and glasses etc then get them done now and save long term. Problem is politicians etc rarely have a Long term view, only ever to teh next elections.

Re: laser eye treatment

I wouldnt have lazer surgery even if it was free on the nhs, i would rather me and ty wore glasses and ty could make his own mind up when he is older, not making that decision for him again!

Re: laser eye treatment

agree with neil n entwisi, would work out cheaper in long run if it was NHS funded, thats obvious. in my case i cannot have it anyway, due to "Dry Eyes" result of n accident, but every 2 yrs i have to have n eye test n new specs if required, had about 5 pair in last 12/14 years, the cost of that would easily outweigh the cost of laser. shortsighted n stupid, but whats new? n remember the £750 it cost ian, it would cost less on NHS cos they aint a business.
