Re: life education van?

One of ours had it this week. They get taught about various drugs and how they affect various body parts. I think it's to prepare them for life in Accrington

Re: life education van?

6 year olds have been caught smoking dope (there was a programme on about it the other day) and i once came across an 8 year old injecting heroin when i did my paper round when i was 15.......
I think educating them early about drugs and the effects is a good idea.

that is ridiculous!!

i caught a 9 year old smoking once... felt a bit of a fraud giving her a lecture on it..especially as id gone round there for a fag at break time

i used to know a 4 year old that could tell you how to roll a joint...
are parents that bad now that children need educating about drugs? my 6 year old is never out of my sight so wouldnt have a chance to 'score'

where's childrens innocence gone?
ive never been worked ina school that gives drug education to children so young, we had this in high school
i might ask the head if i can sit in on the lesson.

It may not be a complete stranger, it may be someone that they have spoken to before. You can never be too careful. Its better educating the children early and when they will listen, hopefully having this awareness from a young age will make them more cautious. Leaving it til secondry school age it too late in a lot of cases, slightly different but I tried smoking at 11, had not had the "lessons" on that back then, just thought it was cool, my niece was younger than this when she got caught trying it. A lot of its peer pressure but if they know from this age that it is wrong then there is less of a chance of them trying it. As someone said in a previoust post, seeing children pre secondary school doing drugs, they need this education early

Re: life education van?

When I hear about things like this, I just shake my head, what kind of society are we living in when we are having to teach six-year-olds about drugs. The thing is that if you don't talk to children at this early age about these issues then some mother and father will end up broken hearted when their child is offered some "SWEETS" and they take them, with disastrous effects

Re: life education van?

It's a sad state of affairs that we have to educate 6 year olds about drugs, but it is a fact of life these days. There are so many drug users and abusers around, many of whom have small children too. There are young children all over the country living in drug using households or are offered drugs at school or whilst playing out. Short of locking all kids up until they are 18, the only other way is to educate.
