You probably have some that roost above your window that is the cause. Obviously if you sit under a roost or have birds nesting or roosting and you sit under it then you are going to get soiled by them. But I don't think birds as a rule crap when they are flying!

Oh yes they do! Every time I wash my car they line up like Junker 88s and attack. There are no overhead wires, its not near the house but at least one always gets a direct hit.They carry quite a payload too, multiple hits! I'm sure they're cawing in German.

No, no birds roost in our roofs they just love my windows
