Re: Making a corset.....

Why would you want to do that?
Compressing your internal organs might make you look better on the outside but is potentially damaging your inside.

Its not going to be that bad lol, its a corset style top, yes its boned and will pull in a bit and offer some support etc but not going to be as bad as the hold ones. I dont think it will damage my insides

Very.

First you have to harpoon a whale.

When you've done that I'll post the next step.

Re: Making a corset.....

Its not that easy i'm afraid. If you do them properly then they have a layer of top fabric, a stiff interfacing, a layer of boning, a layer of soft interfacing, then a double layer of anti-static lining. However doing it properly is well worth it coz they're comfortable and very supportive. I used to work in a fabric and wedding shop (the wedding people at church) so got plenty of experience of this sort of thing. If you decide to do it then go into the Wedding People and they'll sort you out with a pattern, fabric and most importantly give you loads of tips and hints, if you decide not to make it yourself but are considering having one made, then they can do that for you to!!!!

Re: Making a corset.....

In the days when women wore corsets on a daily basis they were very often tailor made. There used to be ladies who offered a discreet measuring service and sent the clients' measurements away to be transformed into pink scaffolding, all structured with whale bone, lacing, hooks and eyes and padding. These ladies had a sign by their front door, usually in fancy poker-work, that said "Spirella". Thank God, they've all been superceded by body-shapers and the wonder-bra.

I see a few whales around town but I don't fancy harpooning any of them
