I was like that Lilly, and breast fed both mine, last 25 years ago, but admired women who did it without embarassment. Used to sit in the back of the car if out for the day, or go to some public toilet (not the best place), or avoid by only going in public places between feeds.

Have noticed a young mother at the gym, she brings her 3-year old for swimming lessons; she also has a baby (about 3 months), and has no qualms at giving the baby a little feed sat at the side of the pool. Feel like going over to her and say 'good on ya' gal'. Nobody bothers, and you can't see anything anyway.

Re: mum's the word

I know that this is more of a womans topic, but both my daughters were breast fed, and actually think its important. I know humans are differnt, but animals rarely survive unless they are weaned on their mothers milk, well or the first few days as it contains anti-bodies which they need to ward of disease. So surely this does have some effect on babies when they are first.

Sometimes Pam you misspelling has me chuckling
.. think you meant importance .. not impotence
a very different problem which would not develop until late middle age

Also if impotence was a problem it is unlikely you would have a baby in the first place so no need to fret about breastfeeding.

I only breast fed my children for the first few days but if I'd have continued then I wouldn't have a problem feeding in public.
If baby needs feeding then it needs feeding.
