Mystery Burning Smell ... Advice Please.
Ok, here goes ...lol
A few weeks ago at approx 2am my hallway stunk of burning and a light haze of smoke could be seen. I called down my neighbour who too could smell burning and witnessed the light smoke. I phoned the fire brigade who took approx 10 - 15 minutes to get here. By the time they had arrived and the front door being open the smell and smoke had gone. To be honest they was not believing me what we had witnessed untill my neighbour backed me up.
2 nights ago at approx 1am my hallway was full of the burning smell again, i didnt want to call the firebrigade and be class as a loon. The smell dissapeared after about 10 minutes.
Last night at 2am my smoke alarms was going off and again the smell of burning was back. Today ive had the council in doing a full electrical check and nothing can be found. They have even checked the meters etc upstairs and the emersion heaters but cant find anything.
Any suggestions anybody ???
p.s. dont know if you believe in ghosts etc but my friends grandson was killed in an house fire 2 months ago, and i knew the child. You dont think he might be trying to pass on a message do you ...
See i told ya i might be a loon !!!!!
No seriously this is becoming a bit frightening now

i had a strange experiance years ago, and no rindy it wasn,t the acid, which rattled me a bit, don,t want to say cos people know i,m a loon anyway, but all i can suggest is what i did after reading a few things- IF it is a ghost - they can,t do you any harm.that became my philosophy anyway.

Re: Mystery Burning Smell ... Advice Please.
The problem may not be in your home it could be in one of your neighbour’s houses.
The front room and hallway in my house have wooden floors and I suspect that all the other houses on my block are the same. So perhaps if something is burning (an electrical wiring fault) two or three doors away then the smoke may well be drifting through the gaps and cracks under the floor boards of every home and gradually finding its way into your hallway through the floor vent next to your front door. Maybe the reason for the odd ball timings of this smell is because what ever is faulty maybe being controlled by a timer or something i.e. central heating system?.
Or maybe one of your neighbour’s has a plantation of cannabis growing in their loft and the number of sun lamps that they are using are drawing that much current through the wiring that the wiring starts to fry. hehe

Re: Mystery Burning Smell ... Advice Please.
Chrissie.
I wouldnt bother too much about it because I had the same problem on the same dates and times as you suggest. I'm on church st and last nights wind was blowing from accy way. A couple of weeks ago the wind was blowing from up ossy way. Garinda told us about foxhill having benches set on fire. I too have posted about this in the past.

Do you think it was the same smoke blowing from the nature reserve at Foxhill Bank?
There was none in my house, and I was only fifty yards away.
Mind you my house is constantly full of smoke, thanks to Marlboro Lights.

You could have a valid point there about those timer lamps coming on to grow plants, as we suspect that is happening very very closely !
