I can't believe it ... I googled Parkin, and was told that it was most commonly associated with YORKSHIRE .... Is this true .... I remember the parkin that my gran used to make .... is this a Lancashire thing, or is it Yorkshire By the way, the Wiki entry does give Lancashire an offhand mention as an also ran in the parkin department
many different versions of parkin were made all over the country. It just happens that the yorkshire cake recipe is the one that has remained in the mainstream.
it is actually believed that the original recipe for parkin came to britain with the vikings.
And believe it or not st peter's school in york is the only place where it is traditional NOT to eat parkin on bonfire night as it was in this school that Guy Fawkes was educated
