Re: reception music....
We didn't choose any of the music played at our reception apart from the song for the first dance. The DJ just played a good mix of everything.

Re: reception music....
We're in the middle of doing promotional photography for a DJ we've seen at three weddings now. There are a lot of good DJs out there, these two just seemed better at keeping everyone dancing...
...except at one wedding where they struggled. Turns out, the B&G had given them a playlist of their own favourites. After 20 minutes of tumbleweed rolling across the dancefloor, they abandoned they playlist, and went with their own choices. It rocked after that.
The moral? Trust your suppliers. They do it week in, week out. If you have a DJ, let him pick the music, because if he's not getting the required results, he'll tweak his choices on-the-fly. At that particular wedding, it was "cheese" that was needed (his description, not mine). As soon as "YMCA" was put on, the guests piled onto the dancefloor.
