Search Engines?

I've been told before that what l refer to as the little mice ie: unregistered guests are not all shy readers with nothing to say, some of them will be search engines.

How does it work, are there people whose job it is to read and then link all this, or can it be done by computers?

I did a search under my user name and it came up with garinda prostitute Accrington Web.

If you don't know it's part of the title of my blog, so please don't p.m. me for my going rates, as you won't be able to afford 'em.

Yes, it is done by computers they have little pink robots that go looking for gay sites, Aluminium ones that go looking for technical sites and others that look like Pinnochio, to find anything I post!

How upsetting that must be for some-one as generous as you, it should have said enthusiastic amateur!

With an Avator like yours it just wouldn't pay to advertise would it? Have you ever considered applying for a Mayoral position?

Re: Search Engines?

The search engines run what are called spiders that effectively search a site looking at keywords, particularly titles menus and what is called 'meta data' which is information web designers hide in the source code that gives clues as to what the page is on about. A good web designer can include a page called 'robots.txt' that helps steer the spiders to the relevant info whilst also being used to 'hide' other parts of a site. This can be because multiple sites can be run from a single peice of web space( we call this virtual hosts).

here is an example of teh BBCs http://news.bbc.co.uk/robots.txt

You can see what parts of the site are 'forbidden' or just useless.

Hope this helps G

Re: Search Engines?

Some want to direct your searches through their sites as they get revenue for each 'click through'. Some want to cause you hassle, others are just obnoxious.
