OK then.

The sellers are actually providing a service to the other forum members. I have bought several item from the buy/sell forum myself. By forcing people to donate we could end up losing members to other local forums.

Like I said Bernadette I was just interested in others peoples thoughts on the subject, I know what I think.

What sort of money are we talking? I would say 10% was reasonable.

I know was just thinking if you sold something for a tenner a quid sounds about right. Suppose you would have to think on higher amounts 10% might seem steep

What about prossies?

After all the Lancashire Evening Telegraph is full of adverts offering their services.

By the way, that was a serious question.

The LET is a family newspaper, there is no age restriction on buying it. It isn't illegal to offer 'escort' services, so what would happen if someone did it on here?

Re: Selling Things on AccyWeb

I feel that way about people coming round to the house to either bring or collect things after I sold something to somebody on another forum who collected it and then turned very nasty. It really worried me that he knew where I lived and might turn up here when Busman was working.

On the other hand from a forum owner's point of view when I used to run one (now defunct as the reason behind its creation no longer exists) I didn't object to people joining to buy and sell things because that often led to other posts and they became active members. It's really down to how the forum owner feels about those things. I used to have a Melaleuca ad in my signature but I didn't put it there without asking Roy's permission because I felt it was only courteous to do so.

So, I suppose what I'm really saying is that as long as something isn't against the forum rules then it's OK by me.

Re: Selling Things on AccyWeb

I think it is courtesy to at least be a regular member before trying to sell something, though when newbies spark a debate or get comments from long standing members it will put most people off becoming a regular. Maybe if Roy wanted to stop newbies selling he could put a post count ban a bit like the old arcade. I'm sure Less gave instruction on how you can still donate a little while back so I think its still possible, but can you really force the newbie sellers when a lot of the regulars still haven't donated?
