Shifters

Can anyone settle an argument please, we were discussing Shifters nightclub over the weekend and couldn't agree when exactly it closed. I was guessing about 1990 but not really sure. Cheers

Re: Shifters

Mr. Google tells me it was located where Boots and specsavers are located now, and was demolished to make way for the Arndale centre, so finding this information will give a date. If I locate the date I will post.

The date published was that it opened in 1987.

Re: Shifters

No way! Cheers for that, you're a legend. I must have been well underage when I went in there. I didn't think I started going out regularly till 1988.
As for Africas/Dolly Greys (and I'm sure it was called Funnies before that) that was a totally seperate place. That was next to the railway bridge on Blackburn Road.

If you are saying I am a legend, you are partially right, I'm more of a leg end.

Also I have a hazy memory of something called Pickwick in that location, or adjacent.
