Should I be annoyed?
It is coming to the end of my tenancy now in this house in Lancaster, and we are all leaving. Two of the lads will be living here again next year with two girls they got to know during the year.
The landlord sent us a letter saying that if the lads want, they can state the house is in good state and sign, with the two girls to say that nothing needs deducting out of my and the other lad who's leaving for goods deposits.
Now they are deciding not to do this in case the girls have a problem with the house and think something needs paying for for our duration in the house, which yes is fair enough. I am just a little annoyed because I haven't socialised in the living room much at all this year as I am always sat upstairs on my laptop or I am out, so the next girls have actually been in there more than me.
The carpet has obviously had things knocked over it on their drunken nights in, and I am going to be fined for it along with the lads when I haven't even been there, so it seems they are favouring the next tenants over me. I have put £30 worth of stuff in my room (a large wipe board, a shelf and the lock on the door with key) plus I intended on leaving the girl who is going to be moving in a full set on unopened bedding.
Now I am thinking of taking the whole lot out of the room and not leaving the bedding, as it is likely I will lose that value in my deposit, so why should I give the landlord in effect, double the damages for things that aren't even my fault?
Comments please!

Yes but should I take the things out of the room out of spite or not? This is my question?! I have no morals of my own, so I need to borrow someone elses.

Re: Should I be annoyed?
Take all your stuff and put it down to experience. Does seem a bit unfair but surely you knew the rules before you started sharing

I did but I obviously didn't know two things:
1. That any of us would stay a second year
2. Therefore give them the opportunity to not get billed this year and see them reject it!
I guess if it was upto me alone I would have said the house is fine rather than pay out of two deposits, which is what the lads will have to do. I guess they have morals and I don't. Quite annoyed though.

Re: Should I be annoyed?
Keep your things certainly but not out of spite, keep them because they are yours to take to wherever you live next.

Re: Should I be annoyed?
Well I should think the answer to that is written in the Tenancy Agreement. You all signed it so I suppose you are all bound by it.Agree it is a problem when damage has been done by persons other than yourself, but that is the risk you took.I would not leave anything behind that belonged to me unless it was in my interest.I wish you luck and advise you seek legal advice.

Re: Should I be annoyed?
Well I can't use any of those things where I live next, so I don't know what to do.

It is double, I will have a single next year. I can't be bothered taking it home with me because it takes up too much space in my bags and I'm already having to make two train journeys to get my stuff home

Surely there must be a charity that would welcome it

Re: Should I be annoyed?
Why not just make it known that you would like to have a little meeting with all concerned and just state your case.
