Re: Sign language
What is it you want to do as a career MissKitty? I have another friend who works with people with special needs and who are deaf. I started trying to learn sign language from them in order to communicate but I kept getting myself very confused. At least they had a good old giggle at some of the nonsense I was saying

Re: Sign language
Kitty, I work for Sense at a residential home for deafblind adults in Accrington, not sure if we have any vacancies at the moment but we are always on the look out for bank staff. If you're interested let me know and I'll make enquiries for you

Re: Sign language
I phoned them Mez-they dont do it anymore,
Which is a shame-would have been handy to do it so close to home.Im going to phone Blackburn college tommorow-couldnt get through before.
Thanks Cashy-i hope i do keep on until i get to do what i want instead of going for something just because i can start earning money right away(not good in the long run). The job centre are backing me so that will help.I remember when i first came up north the job centre was a place i feared-they were so nasty, but now i have different advisers and they really help me,makes such of a difference.
I want to be a communication support worker or suchlike, different to actually working with the deaf-just interpreting instead of getting fully involved in whatever they are doing.
Accymad-Have PM'd you

Re: Sign language
I've just spoken to my friend this morning/afternoon at Church and she told me they are still doing it at Blackburn College and that Accy don't do it any more. She's done stage 1 but gave up on stage 2 because she said it was a lot harder. Hope you can get on the course and that it isn't too tough. Good luck with it.
