Re: Siren???

I know it provides much needed jobs but is the price (risk to health to all living nearby) too much of a price to pay for such jobs?

I would like to see it relocated to lift the blight on Church - that area has enough problems without such added hazards.

Re: Siren???

Well i thought the tone was my ears ringing, as full of a cold atm and didnt sleep that great anyway. I swore blind it was my ears till other half said he heard it during early hours sounding like an air raid siren but to my ears was a pulsing dull mono tone i was worried my ears had gone, obviously working well then despite a cold lol.

Re: Siren???

Ist time i've heard blythes go off in the night - usually have mini incidents during the day when siren clearly goes off. Tho what does it mean to be that loud other than at the plant leakage etc, but to be so loud in the neighbourhood

How long has Blyth's been there, H & S are now more stringent than they've ever been

Re: Siren???

Hi I was woken up by the noise too, It went on for a couple of hours all together. There were other alarm bells ringing too, like fire alarm bells. I live high up (Willows Lane) so I have good view of Accy. Couldn't see a thing though, no smoke etc or blue flashing lights like there were emergency vehicles around. Why nothing on the local news if there a spillage? Do they try to keep it quiet so residents don't know how dangerous the place is? I didn't know until I read the blogs on here.

Had to laugh .. went next door ... my neighbour is the maintenance electrician there ... oh no !! says hadn't worked there for 2 years now. Can you believe it .. have a friendly relationship, and didn't know this !! Shows I'm not nosey anyway.

He did say, however, that arsenic is not produced there anymore .. just the chlorine, and the company very small now. Thought probably an electrical fault, and if anything serious, would have evacuated the whole area, so sleep well tonight folks.

I'll sleep well if that alarm doesn't go off again

Re: Siren???

Well. I was there last weekend and I was awake when it first went off. That lasted about 10 minutes and as that noise ended the police sirens began. After about another 10 minutes it started again and that lasted for a similar time. I've heard nowt or read nowt about it since. This is where Margaret needs to come in with one of her crackpot conspiracy theories........
