sparth house..anyone been for a meal there ?
and if so was it good ?...thinking bout taking the other half out sometime in the future and thought about there so had a look at their menu and its only £25 per head for the 3 course - which to me is pretty cheap for somewhere that looks quite tidy, so does that cheap priced meal mean cheap looking and tasting food or is it a bargain ?
so folks your reviews please...good bad or indifferent

As usual .. not much help, but did change hands in November, so as only just up the road from me .. would be interested myself. They own another too.

Re: sparth house..anyone been for a meal there ?
It was awful
There were 10 of us, and only 2 got the right meal
Every thing was cold and mostly under cooked
Nobody finished their meal. We caused a stink and they cancelled the bill
On the up side they did everyone a voucher for a free meal
So long as we didn’t all turn up at the same time
That was a few years ago, but to the best of my knowledge nobody took up the voucher offer

...dont know if I can take that on board as 'it was a few years ago ' given that they may have had several different chefs since then and the owners have changed hands too...
thanks all the same..

Re: sparth house..anyone been for a meal there ?
Went last Saturday to a dinner dance (if that counts), the meal was great and worth every penny. Only complaint and it's not really a complaint. Ordered cheese and biscuits, the variety and amount of cheese was great but for some reason not a lot of biscuits. They did get us some more and said if we needed more to let them know. Going of what we experienced i would certainly recommend itl

Re: sparth house..anyone been for a meal there ?
also very much worth a look isd Sykeside Country house at Haslingden. Right on teh roundabout by Tesco.
£16.95 for 2 courses, £19.95 for 3. Julie and I went teh other weekend and it was superb.
The bar is lovely with a nice living flame fire, perfect for that after dinner Remy...
Highly recommended and they have rooms as well which weren't silly price if you want to make a real night of it.
A Taxi from Baxenden was £7 each way so add a couple of quid from accy centre

Went a couple of weeks ago. Excellent food, service and price. Try dinner times - even better value.
