The Devil closes his net

I have just started reading a book i got in Preston the other day "The Devil closes his net"
its an account of a plane crash on Winter Hill in 1958 killing 35 people.
I was just wondering if any of our older members remember this crash.?

Re: The Devil closes his net

I remember hearing about it when I was older but I was too young at the time for it to register with me. I think that was the year I broke my wrist falling over the fender.

Was the fender being dragged down Ossy at the time?

I must clarify that..............a little off subject.
When I was a young man, my friends and I went to the Tampits Working Mens Club.
There was an artist on the stage doing his best but sounded awful.
The Chairman, in a very loud voice shouted:
"He sounds like somebody dragging a fender down Ossy"
The artist was paid off and life went on.

Do you mean the cobbled streets or the fender?
