Re: The Starlight Club
The Starlight Club was in Little Harwood not far from Bastwell Traffic Lights on Preston New Road as stated by Cashman. It was one of my favourite Saturday night venues during my courting days in the late 1960's due to the many top acts that performed there. Saw Tom Jones, Billy Fury and Clinton Ford strutting their stuff for free courtesy of my girlfriend's mate who's brother was M.C. for a while.

Re: The Starlight Club
It was the old Star cinema on Whalley Old Rd., bottom end of Little Harwood near War Memorial/clock tower , think nearest pub would be the Plane tree. Seven Trees was on Whalley New Rd. ( to get to the Star you went through a ginnel/underpass near Lions Brewery) .

Just said that ..... it was down through the ginnel/undepass next to the Seven Trees and past the Lion Brewery , no need to go down to Bastwell , a 10 minute walk at best

I remember the drag queen Bunny Lewis being booed off the stage. The first time I'd heard a performer tell their audience to go away and copulate. The police were called to a huge fight that broke out in the auditorium and a good deal of damage was caused to the premises. Saw Bunny Lewis some weeks later at the Rose Grove Cabaret Club when his act was similarly received. There's no accounting for taste.

Spot on SJ it did for clubs like The Starlight Rose Grove Cabaret club 77 at Brierfield, and the Ace of Spades at Whalley think the only one that survived was Martholme Grange, which diversified and concentrated on Food and cabaret and disco

Re: The Starlight Club
You got it Beechy, That was "The Starlight Club" I remember...Roulette upstairs, a bar where I had a good chat to Freddie Star, about him and his band of the time. Also helped Jonnie Ray move a speaker off the stage ,he was off to another club in Burnley I believe. Saw, Lonnie Donngan,,Tiller girls,, Worsley and (Dummy) Lord Charles ?,,Vipers,, the list is so long...2/6 to get in yes, I used to drive over from Chorley with the then wife, and another couple, She (the wife ) Ran off with him, the other guy, and I found another (her) weeks later and still went to the "Starlight" twice a week or so..Now I live in Accrington (4 years) and love the place to bits...Thank you all for your contributions, and I am greatful for the reminicence, and sit here crying in my Carling and wondering what on earth happened to all thoses years...Ah the good times Eh They can take all your Money and Chattles, but they can't touch your memories.......Tony
