Unhappy Thomas Cook Vouchers

As part of the benefits package at work we can choose vouchers of some kind high st etc, I have chosen Thomas Cook Vouchers, handy to put towards a holiday - or so I thought. I have £500 of these TC vouchers and each one says can be used at TC website, Thomas Cook TV in their shops or fly thomas cook so basically anything to do with them, I go on line to book a holiday and try to use the vouchers by inputting the voucher numebr will it accept the, will it hell. I call them to be told that you CANNOT use the vouchers on line, in shops, tv shop (you get what I mean) you have to pay for the holiday in full then send the vouchers to their head office and they will refund the money back to your card. You have to send them recorded delivery, insure them, get proof of postage and enclose card details and holiday details. REALLY nopt a happy bunny. Oh and to make matters worse whilst waiting for these USELESS vouchers I actually missed out on the holiday I really wanted its no longer available.

Just wondered if anyone else had ever had a similar experience

The vouchers are not part of our wage and as far as I am aware benefit packages still exist,
