Re: trainers???
With all the fighting that goes on around Accrington now on a Friday and Saturday night, I'm surprised they don't let people wear trainers.
I would rather be kicked in the head off a trainer than a bloody Rock port any day of the week.

Re: trainers???
sorry for wandering off thread a little, but this reminds me of the con club in the late 60s,the rule was you had to wear a tie to the monday dance,at the time dave clark shirts were all the rage, these had very high collars and a tie was not suitable- long story cut short= made me wear a tie was in about 20 mins and was picked on by some clown, needless to say that was the only fight all night!

Re: trainers???
I presume the reason you can't wear trainers in town centre pubs, is that you can't run away from the bar after been asked to pay over the top prices for c**p drinks.

we went to the bridge as its usually got a few decent songs playing. only to be turned away at the door because a member of the party was wearing trainers...stylish trainers at that!!! was it my imagination but only a few months ago everyone was saying that the pubs and clubs are dying a death because people are drinking elsewhere??
so why turn 3 people away who would have stayed all night drinking and dancing just because one of them was wearing trainers????? its not like the bridge is that classy an establishment!!!!!

Trainers are for sports: you should have gone to the sports centre sat night instead. Burn off some calories

More like because the doormen thought she was wearing nothing but thigh length boots (she had borrowed slinkys pixie boots for the night).

Re: trainers???
I speak as someone who has never owned, or will wear a pair of training shoes, but here goes.....
I hate stupid door policies. It's what makes us look provincial and stupid. As other people have said, you could wear cheap awful clothes and shoes and fulfil the pub/nightclub's door policy, yet are turned away if you are wearing expensive jeans or trainers.
If you are going to be so arrogant to have a dress code, have it if someone looks good, or if they've have made an effort.
I am available if they can afford me.

Re: trainers???
I used to do the door at the London clubs Pig-pen and Kinki Gerlinky, it gave me great pleasure to turn people away who didn't fit in to the club's image. Not every man can pull off a tweed skirt and headscarf! [Sorry no names your Highness.]
