Waste
We are always being told that supermarkets us far to much packaging on their products, but the pharmaceutical industry are getting just as bad. As some one who has been on quite a lot of medication for some years the amount of packaging used for meds has gone up and up over the years. At one time you got tablets in a bottle, not know (well very rarely that is) they are all in blister packs, some of which are ridiculous to say the least. Two tabs I take every day now come in little boxes containing about 20 tabs plus instructions, each time I order these tabs I end up with loads of these little boxes, I used to get 2 bottles and considering the amount of money the pharmaceutical firms must have paid for the machines to make these packages is it any wonder the cost of drugs to the NHS is sky high

Re: Waste
my mum gets a weekly 'pack' with all drugs sectioned off for each period ( morning, lunch etc) these go back to teh chemist so reduces the packaging that she has to deal with.

Re: Waste
thats a good idea entwisi...
ive downsized my waste alot.. buying fresh from the butcher and greengrocer has helped plus ive only got 7 nappies a week going in the bin (till i run out, then it will be none) which has gone down from 7 a day! plus the recycling means theres hardly anything going into the bin now
off topic slightly i know but i dont take any medication so i cant comment on that

Re: Waste
Hyndburns new blue bags, have got only plastic bottles i in doubt leave it out.
Thats stupid, there are plenty of other items sealed in the same plastic as pop bottles, eggs for one.
If Hyndburn only accepts plastic bottles, then they are just playing at recycling, they want to get there act together, most thermo plastics vcaan be recycled.
Retlaw.

That's brilliant Ian, the only thing is that I have to vary my dosage sometimes as I'm on a self medication plan supervised by the community matrons, so wouldn't work for me

"Community matrons"????? Never heard that one before .... are they anything like the Hell's Angels who control much of the self-medication over here

I don't think the self medication I am talking about is remotely like what you are referring to
