Re: weather??

According to the forecast, we have some coming.....of course it isn't of the same calibre as the stuff you get....but it will bring life to a grinding halt...you can bet on it!

Re: weather??

I hope it's not too nasty for you folks. My outside thermometer read minus 24 this morning. It was the kind of cold that makes you think of all the poor creatures outside, wild or otherwise. People too, who are homeless and spend the night in bus shelters.
I went for an early morning drive and it was pleasant enough inside the vehicle. The little bit of snow on the ground was quite pretty - it sparkled like diamonds in the sun. I wished I had my camera, but then I would have to stop and get out in it. No bluddy chance hah hah.

What is needed is a plan ...

https://www.cityofkingston.ca/reside...c/snow-removal

Got to admit, tho', it's easy for us to say that 'cause we expect snow. We have the street plows, the sidewalk plows, and me with my trusty shovel And you have to budget for it ... and that's millions of dollars, even for a small place like Kingston. Here's a clip of snow removal on the 401 ... I believe you guys call it a Motorway. Count the plows:

Re: weather??

We do have 'snow days' if it's really bad. And young ones consider themselves very lucky if they get one, so it doesn't happen often. What mainly happens is the school buses are cancelled. The schools stay open, I believe, leaving the parents to get the kids there if they can.

Re: weather??

At least minus 20 this morning as hubby went to get us our Tim Hortons brekkie. It's garbage day, and that's my reward for getting it all put out (for us and my elderly neighbour). It was so cold my eyes ran and my face hurt. I scuttled back inside as quickly as I could. Hubby didn't even wear gloves or hat, as he sat in the cold car waiting for it to warm up, apparently. He's made of tougher stuff than me!

Thats basically what i was told, the schools stay open, the teachers here though are far too mard, so they shut em, never used to be the case, as yer probably know yerself? if the heating was outa action, we were told to keep our coats on. plus nobody had a car, so almost everyone managed to get to school.

Maybe not here; but in parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba the nuts would be under threat ... and in Qausuittuq, the bridge wouldn't stand a chance.
