what seeds can I plant now
Still going to plod on with my garden again this year: however I think I will limit what I do, last year I tried to plant too many plants and ended up ( with very fat birds ) so I will be more selective:
Going to have a few veg, and the like: But going to try my own bedding plants
Any ideas

Re: what seeds can I plant now
was thinking about what i'm going to plant this year yesterday...last year i put my spuds in in February (i think) and they where ready for July, i put them in tubs though, a lot easier than digging up the ground

Re: what seeds can I plant now
Nigella, or 'Love-in-a-Mist' to give it it's common name, is very easy to grow, provides excellent ground cover, and will give a good display of blooms throughout the summer, if you keep dead heading, rather than let them all go to seed. You can also use the dried seed heads in winter displays.
If you do let a few heads go to seed, you'll be able to save them, and save yourself some money the year after.

Re: what seeds can I plant now
I wouldn't start anything off until the middle of next month.
That's when I'll be starting off this year's crop.

Re: what seeds can I plant now
I agree.
While there's still a chance of frost now is the time to be reading seed catalogues, not thinking about planting them.

Re: what seeds can I plant now
Terry Walton (the allotment guy) was asked this same question today.
He just offered :-
- Get the catalogues, but don't always have high expectations as turning out like the pictures.
- Go and talk to your local garden centre.
- With the credit crunch on us, do not try anything new at the moment, just the well tried veggies, etc., that you know will be of use and can have success with.
Not a gardener at all, but Terry Walton appears to be really good .. have you listened to him Pipinfort/Monkey ?
Seems you can E-mail him and does answer quite a majority of queries in person. This is one link, you may be able to find better.

Re: what seeds can I plant now
I start sowing in late February/early March and then every bedroom windowsill is taken up with seed trays. I do the tomatoes then, as well as bedding plants. Late March is when I do the pumpkins and cucumbers, also the sunflowers.
I have a couple of small plastic grow-houses leaning against my kitchen's back wall. They get the sun until early afternoon, in Spring, so they are ideal for potting on. I also cheat by buying seedlings (fuschias, geraniums etc.) in late March and growing them on in there. I grow vegetables in very large tubs and I plant the seeds in March for a Summer crop.
