Before it gets moved to a place I'm not allowed .... next time you go where you may see this verminous shag (or cormorant), leave your camera at home and take your shotgun .... kill it .... these birds are pests. We have thousands around here ... it's open season ... shoot on sight

Re: What sort of bird is this??
Oops ... missed a couple of lines out of the poem ... should know better than to use my brain when I'm stoned:
Here we go again; ahem:
The cormorant, or common shag
Lays eggs inside a paper bag.
The reason you will see, no doubt,
It is to keep the light'ning out .... etc
Now, that makes more nonesense ...

Unlike you Canadian 'cousins' .. here in the U.K. we leave the culling of vermin to professionals who will do it in a humane manner, not some idiots out at the weekend taking wild, amateur pop shots with loaded dangerous weapons at these beautiful birds ....

There's a new TV ad for Specsavers running at the moment Roy, it shows an old couple out for the day and they sit down for a butty, then all of a sudden these bars come down and clamp them to the seat, there on the blood roller coaster as they walk away after the bloke say what kind of these was that The fun thing about it is that my other half was asked if she would do the ad and her answer was, when she found out it was on a roller coast, not bloody likely

Humane! ... yeh, like miximytosis, remember that? ... ah well, one person's beautiful bird is another man's destructive pest ... there is no danger of these things becoming an endangered species ... not here anyhow. If you would like a few thousand let us know .... could throw in a few hundred baby harp seals too.

Over here, when spring comes around, you see a lot of young guys in the parks shagging flies (Translation available on request).
