What would you do?
You may be aware of a story in the media at the minute about a chap who punched another chap who was filming his daughter whilst on holiday in Spain.
The guy refused to stop filming when asked so he got punched. The single punch killed the man and the father is now facing charges.
British man arrested in Spain for 'killing paedophile he caught filming his daughter' - Telegraph
What would you do if you caught someone filming your child?
What are your (real) options in such a scenario?
I know, Its not against the law to film someone in public in uk (not sure about Spain) and if she was having a meal with her parents the images/footage of the child couldn't be too 'sexualised', but if I was in that fathers position I'd probably of give him a dig too.
I comprehend we live in a world of paranoia but I suspected that if someone was filming my child then I got the recording device and found child porn,I wouldn't need to wait for the justice system to come to a verdict before finding said person guilty.....
....I hope the sentencing judge has children and can see it from the chaps point of view and show some leniency.

Re: What would you do?
As the guy was defo a pedo, as a previous arrest shows, i would award the dad costs.

Re: What would you do?
well at least someone is giving out the correct punishment for child molestors
i think they call it justified homicide in america but as this happened in europe the father will be screwed and the childs rights overlooked

With a good lawyer, a sympathetic DA and jury ... maybe manslaughter. It wasn't really murder. There was no malice and aforethought, "intent" if you like. The victim wasn't killed during the commission of another crime: robbery, for example. Still, the guy did kill someone. Having said that ... and being opposed to capital punishment ... in similar circumstances, I would like to think I would have done the same thing myself. Given my advanced age, I probably would have had to use a bat.

Any parent in their right mind would do whatever possible to protect their child,I'd probably of done worse if truth be told.I'll be the first to admit, I'm all for a bit of 'vigilante justice' but is (even accidentally) taking someone's life without 100% proof justifiable? Hmmm
It's not 'murder' for the reasons you correctly outlined,to be honest (in this case) I think even "manslaughter" should be deemed as a trumped up charge

Re: What would you do?
To be perfectly honest, i dont think the guy should be charged at all, due to the simple fact he was a paedo, and the guy did ask him to stop. to be met by a refusal,

That's how I see it too, I think all that morality stuff is just BS.
When sh1t and fan meet, (if I had to) I would go all medieval on someone to protect my (or anyone else's) kids....
....sorry folks, but that's just the way I've been dragged up.

I agree that it's not murder, from what we can see it was a parent protecting his child, as natural as any animal put in a situation similar, though that isn't a parent in their right mind, that, is a parent rightly, behaving aggressively against an attacker on it's young.
It's about time such behaviour is considered just a little bit more.

Personally, I've never been one who is a great believer in the 'justice' and rehabilitation when it comes to sex offenders,I find them worse than murders due to their victim's having to live with the (long term) psychological after effects (just my opinion).
Do you ,personally, deem it "manslaughter" or do you believe the parent should walk ,with costs awarded, justice served so to speak?
After reading Restless's comment I think he might have a fair and reasonable punishment ........if the parent deserves punishing in the eyes of the law.
I'm sure there is legal precedence for this type of offence, after all the father was merely taking revenge, which is not allowed by 'law'.

Re: What would you do?
Let's not get carried away, as a parent I know that given the wrong circumstances I would have killed to protect my children, fortunately I never had to, that does not mean I think open season should be declared, even against the scum of the earth.
