he needs the wheelchair for six weeks this is classed as short term

Re: wheelchair required

It might be worth asking if any AccyWebbers have one they no longer have need of.

Has he tried Occupational Therapy? They were the ones who sorted Ian out with things he needed. Could be worth giving them a call 358008.

Re: wheelchair required

Try the Red Cross. They used to hire wheelchairs and only asked for a donation.

Re: wheelchair required

I’m just mulling over why this person has been sent home from hospital with two broken ankles without a means of support. Would they do that ? Maybe they gave him crutches having deemed the person adequately mobile. I would have thought that the Physiotherapy Department would have been the ones to sort this out initially. Maybe they have denied a wheelchair because it would be a hindrance to the healing process. Sorry if that comes over as a bit of a rant beechy , just think I’d be making a few angry phone calls if I was your friend, it doesn’t seem at all fair.

Re: wheelchair required

Beechy sorry to say that St John Ambulance no longer loan out wheelchairs due to H&S and insurance restrictions, not sure about Red Cross but they too have to comply with same H&S regs., As a suggestion contact the persons GP and see if they can get one sent from Central Loan Stores, as I always known it as, but think it now called Community Loans or something on them lines.

Re: wheelchair required

I think it's ludicrous that someone can be sent home with 2 broken ankles and no means of getting about.
