Where Is The Golden Bin?
Where Is The Golden Bin?
Braintree District Council Have started a scheme of rewarding people for using their litter bins, is this a good idea? Could it work around here? Or should our council be ensuring that those of us that do litter are fined whenever possible?
Rewarding people for being tidy seems a reasonable idea, or perhaps you think the Council should carry on with their big stick attitude and punish even the smallest of offenses?

Re: Where Is The Golden Bin?
Sounds like a good idea. Maybe we should all headover to braintree and stake out the bins. We could do it strategicly and share the profits!

I'm more for using the sick, than giving them a golden carrot.

What are you going to use them for ? I thought slavery had been abolished. Shame on you, exploiting the ailing and afflicted.

I'd use the stick on anyone I saw dropping litter.

Re: Where Is The Golden Bin?
Lol, I think some of the sick should be given some stick, and made to pick up litter.

Re: Where Is The Golden Bin?
Heard a little of this at lunch-time Less, won't actually be a golden bin, a different normal bin will be chosen periodically, and council workers will lurk in the shadows and the bushes and the lucky person (say No.3)who drops litter into it will be awarded, on the spot, a £10 gift voucher ! (didn't say for where). Tried to work out if it were April 1st or some sort of joker's day, but absolutely true. ! How that council spokeswoman interviewed kept her voice on one key amazed me.
'Course all the usual arguments came up like 'people should not be rewarded for what they should be doing in the first place' etc., but, well, could help with very little outlay.
Just the scenario that made me laugh .. putting your litter in a bin and wondering if anybody is going to pounce.

Re: Where Is The Golden Bin?
Wonder how many " lurking" council workers get reported for hanging round in bushes in parks behaving suspiciously ?

Re: Where Is The Golden Bin?
Great idea, it's high time the Councils started rewarding the good recyclers and litter concious people, instead of concentrating on the offenders. This idea can only do good, 10 out of 10 for whoever thought it up.
