where would you put your pumkin?
Now I know im not with HBC but I think from previous threads they are all similar .
Now I put my cardboard ,garden clippings, veg peelings etc into my green bin on orders from the council ,now halloween has past and here i am left with 2 pumkins ,so today were green bin collection day and so I popped the pumpkins into the green bin as i do with my veg peelings after all its a vegatable isnt it?
Guess what ? they havent emptied my green bin because of the pumkins being in there , so can anyone tell me just where do pumkins go then?
They are staying there for the next two weeks and i will just carry on putting my green waste on top but either way , they will take my pumkins away

Re: where would you put your pumkin?
How stupid.
That's the whole point of the green bins.
The pumpkins are bio-degradable.
Phone them up and give them hell.
If they aren't emptied the next time, inform them that you've put a witche's curse on them.

Re: where would you put your pumkin?
Pumpkins are a vegetable aren't they? Of course they should go with garden waste. It hasn't been cooked so it's equal to spud peelings and carrot tops.
I won't have a problem with mine. It's going with the non-recyclable because I don't have a green bin. According to HBC I don't have a garden so don't get a bin for garden waste - don't ask me what that tree at the front of the house is growing in but according to HBC it isn't a garden.

Collect all the leaves in a sack.
Go into HBC's offices and recycle them all about the building.
Deny all knowledge, because you don't have a garden.

Re: where would you put your pumkin?
pmsl garinda ..well I do have a broomstick instead of a brush to sweep my kitchen floor so maybe I will give that a try haha .
yes willow they are a veg and i would have thought it is exactly the same as veg peelings , but according to these green fingered binmen " sorry its not on the list " what actually gets me is that if its not bad enough being chipped ,they are actually looking in my bin as well .
I will as i say be leaving them there for next pick up and if they still fail to take it i will be really complaining ..... will wheel the bin to the bloomin council myself lol

Re: where would you put your pumkin?
Do your council not provide compost bins?
We do in Hyndburn, I'll give them that.
(Please note my praise here for HBC.)

Well have you thought of drying the pumkins to smoke, until your baccy crop is ready?
