Union Rd wasn't your ordinary cobbles - it was 'granite sets'.
They were dark grey and had a flat top surface. They are still there under the tarmac because they were too rock hard to get up.

Don't remeber them up Union St but do remember going on the tram from Church to the West End to watch cricket, and I think a couple of times into Blackburn with Mum
