Why Is It?

Have you noticed that if one electrical appliance packs in at least two or three more follow in rapid succession?

First of all, the washing machine decided to struggle a bit. It poured more water on the floor than was used to wash! Replaced, eventually. Next was the PS2, maybe that will be replaced next year! In the middle of all this, the kettle died, replaced immediately.

The iron is on the blink and the DVD player has decided that every disk it looks at is 'bad'.

I'm keeping a wary eye on the fridge!!

Re: Why Is It?

Why you need to replace the washer cos it leaks. It would have just been a rubber bit unless its over 10 yrs old, then it may be a hole in the external drum.

yes junetta, that has been my experience too.....in the space of a few hours the fridge, the microwave and the Dyson all committed suicide. That was an expensive weekend!

A couple of irons, 2 morphy richards kettles one traditional, one upright, a sandwich toaster, a couple of toasters somewhere, a black bistro table n chairs. No wonder I can't move.

Re: Why Is It?

I have a 'reserve' kettle........but no other electrical stuff on standby.
I just haven't the room for extra stuff. I did replace all of my white goods when I retired, some 4 years ago.......thinking that the stuff would last.
My last washing machine was used every day and did me 14 years service.......and my brother got it when the kitchen was upgraded......and it is still working yet!

Re: Why Is It?

we went back to a stove top kettle as we found the water seems hotter than the electric kettle we had.

As for stuff all going 'together' this can happen if you have a lightning storm as each flash generates a BIG emp (electromagnetic pulse) which silicon chips hate with a vengence.

I'd hate to add up what electronic stuff we have in our house. I think we have about 100 rechargable batteries before I even start on normal kit.

Re: Why Is It?

The old washer had other problems too, MH, would have cost more to have it repaired. I haven't room to stock pile stuff, unfortunately.
