woodburner advice

Hello, I'm looking to get a wood burning stove installed for this winter and I want to get a HETAS registered company/person to install it and sign it so that it meets building regulations. I understand that it recommended to get a flue liner installed and this brings peace of mind due to it eliminating the chance of a chimney fire. Can anyone recommend any local companies or contractors that can do it for a fair price? I know Acorn are one such company but with them I'm looking at £800 min for the liner.

It wont be cheap anywhere, £800 is not a bad price at all, you could try flusafe or ramsbottom stoves though for a second opinion.

Re: woodburner advice

Wood burners are very common here in France, and yes it is advised that you use a flue liner. Installing one is not rocket science, the big problem comes with the height of the chimney. If using a company and it is over 3 m(I think) high then they are required to use scaffolding. If you are doing it on your own property then that doesn't apply.
You do not state whether the figure of £800 includes anything in addition to the liner.
Wood burners here cost anywhere between 400 to 700 euros. There is a differential between inset and freestanding ones. I installed my own free standing one and the flue liner as well. The chimney is about 11 m - installation is a doddle, drop a weighted rope down and then pull the liner up with somene feeding in from the bottom - suggest you get more than one quotation and ask for the quotation to be itemised.

Try Tony Barr (Rishton) 01254 886394 for fitting and look on the web for prices for the stove..

can vouch for tony barr, know of him through work and a very nice guy indeed, somewhat fearless when going up a roof and dropping a flue liner down...

I dropped a flue liner down mine last week, and to say I wasnt cacking it up my roof was an understatement, hats off to anyone who does that for a living..
