Re: Yate's Wine Lodge Blackburn

Thanks for the photos, I didn't often venture into Blackburn but when I worked for Batty Holts tours our depot was at the bottom of Pump street and the Pump House was our usual lunch time haunt when we wasn't on tour. Many a time the traffic manager would come in to drag us out at 2pm so we could get our coaches ready for the next tour. Steeljacks dad was one of us and he never seemed to fall down after a lunch of whisky. This, by the way, was around 1966/7

I've just stuck a dozen photos of the 1951 carnival on my site Gremlin and they were all taken on Whalley Banks pretty close to the Pump House. You can see the pub in a couple of the photos. Mind you it's the older pub. I'm not sure when it was demolished and the later Pump House built (late 50's maybe?). The later pub has just been demolished a couple of weeks ago.

I was still at junior school in 1967 ;-)
