A snap from the past

I have come across an old photo of my father and friend, can anybody identify the background? ... and identify the car? ... and some idea of the year it was taken? it must be prior 1940

That looks very much like an Austin 7 my dad had in th 1940s.
I have checked with an Austin7 website and found this pic - the radiator emblem and shape seem to confirm this.
No idea about the location

The location looks very much like Mancester ..Chapel Street .. Corn Exchange .. maybe further down. .. sorry, meant Cross Street.

The registration prefix UB signifies the car was bought/registered in Leeds, probably in the 1930s. Looking at pics of vintage cars I'd say it was 1930s Austin 10. Here's a pic: http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/...1176373596.jpg
