Question Cavanagh/O'Rourke family history - anyone know ?

I am researching history of Patrick Cavanagh married Mary Jane O'Rourke 1908. Already have lots of information from 1901 census etc. plus family bible but would love to hear from anyone who knew descendents of Jane & Thomas O'Rourke Accrington - John Thomas O'Rourke, George Henry, Frederick, Sarah A (Sally), Martha , Sally. Jane O'Rourke (nee Rushton) born Haslingden 1929.

i think the guy is now out of jail actualy as i was speaking to his step dad teh other month and i think he said he was now living in morcambe with his brother glynn , i forget the mothers name but i think she is now deceased

i may have the O,Rourke part wrong but it sounded very similar , maybe somone else can recal the surname

Huncoat pair Stuart James O’Rourke, 21, of Woodside Avenue, and Allan Gowers, 44, of Seedall Grove, were sentenced in October 1990 for the "brutal and senseless murder of a frail, defenceless man".
In an attack that shocked Hyndburn, 58-year-old Mr Booth was viciously battered by the two thugs as he walked home at Christmas time. As he lay dying the pair abused him with a Christmas tree to make it look like a homosexual killing.

What did they do to make them think he was murdered by homosexuals, dress the tree in simply fabulous decorations?

To Ossy Kid - parents of Mary Jane O'Rourke (1886-1943) were Jane O'Rourke (1855 - 1929) nee Rushton born Haslingden and Thomas O'Rourke (? - 1902) born County Mayo. Jane O'Rourke died 1929 in Garbett St Acc. Mary Jane O'Rourke married Patrick Cavanagh in 1908.

My uncle was James O'Rourke (Uncle Jimmy), married to my mother's sister, Margaret Eleanor Pendergast ("Nellie"). His brother was John O'Rourke, who lived in Rishton and was the Leader of the Council there at least twice. His daughter, Mary O'Rourke (I forget her married name) was also on the Council at Rishton for some years. Uncle Jimmy was the most amazing and wonder ful man - my son carries his name. If he is a relative of yours, you can be truly proud of a marvellous man.

Seems like James and John and of course O'Rourke are very common to that age. James O'Rourke on our tree was the son of Jane and Thomas and was 14 in 1901. He is also mentioned on Jane's funeral details as attending. The other brothers and sisters were - John Thomas 1877 - 1938. Stephen 1889 - 1939. Frederick 1897-1963 George Henry born 1878, Michael 1882-1934. Mary Jane 1885-1943, Sarah Ann 1880-1962, Nancy 1890, Martha born 1892. I did meet a Mary O'Rourke who had never married and was a relative way back in 1998. She lived near whalley rd and was a strong old lady. These are my husbands family maternally. Thanks maria

Yes, Mariam, I knew Mary O'Rourke ... when I started work she was my office manager at Nayler the Printer. She lived in a flat over the top of the TSB in Whalley Road Clayton. As she became elderly, she moved into Stopford Court at the top of Lynwood Avenue, Clayton. Oh I luv, she was strong alright.
