Question Charles Henry Birtwell

I am researching my family and looking for anyone related to Charles Henry Birtwell who was born in the Accrington area in 1901, he married my Aunt Elizabeth in Dunfermline in 1951 and they lived there till he died in 1971.

Regards,

James

Suggest you drop a limne to the Hyndburn branch oif the Lancashire Family History Society asking if any of their members are researching Birtwells. There was an extensive family of this name in Huncoat - farmers mainly.

They used to sell ice cream from a horse drawn cart when I lived on Queens Road in the fifties. Milk too I think and used to blow a whistle to tell you they were there.

Re: Charles Henry Birtwell

I had an 'Uncle Bill @ Birtwell He was a pal of my dad's. He never married. Lived 27 Ramsbottom St and worked as accountant (?) at Whittaker's, Dowry St. (1950s) Was a freemason and ran an Austin 8 or 10 car, Regd No HDH 315. I think his family came from up Huncoat way, but never heard him say they were farmers. I suggest you use the Search facility and look for Birtwell thread as I think there has been one.
